The Compactor is a specialized H-type hydraulic press designed to compress drums to one-fifth of their original size. These drums contain hazardous radioactive materials and are typically sized at Ø860 mm x 882 mm height, manufactured from mild steel sheet.
The main pressing cylinder generates a force of 200 tons at a working pressure of 200 bar, enabling effective compression of the drum.
To prevent any leakage of harmful gases or liquids during operation, the compactor maintains a sealed environment throughout the pressing process. Equipped with a blower and damper system integrated with a HEPA filter, the machine ensures maximum operational safety. This system provides a secure and reliable solution for the compression and disposal of nuclear waste materials.
The H-Frame Press is a machine powered by high-pressure fluid, used for shaping materials through applied force. It operates based on Pascal’s Principle, which states that pressure in a closed system remains constant. The required force is generated by a piston within a working cylinder, where fluid (oil or water) is supplied under high pressure. This piston is connected to the working tool to perform the pressing operation.
The hydraulic press can be driven by a pump or a pump-accumulator system, with actuation through steam, air, hydraulic, or electromechanical means. This press is designed with three primary operations:

• Ejection
Feeding Unit:
The feeding unit consists of two feed cylinders and a roller conveyor system that transports the mould to the central pressing area.
Pressing Unit:
The pressing unit is equipped with a robust 400-ton cylinder mounted on the top plate, guided by a linear guide system. It performs the compression of the mould at the required temperature for a specified duration.
Ejection Unit:
The ejection unit features a cylinder mounted beneath the bed plate, which ejects the finished component after pressing.
